Anna's shots

The babies had their two month appointment today. They got a clean bill of health and unfortunately their first round of immunizations. Iman turned deep purple immediately and let out her silent but violent cry that makes you believe it's the end of the world. Bibi cried too, but his was a little less desperate. Bibi reminded Amine that the "fountain of youth" is still a crowd pleaser... for everyone except Amine that is. Amine thought it was his phone vibrating in his pocket, so essentially Bibi emptied his bladder entirely before Amine realized what was happening. They are home recovering now. Bibi weighed 11lb 5 oz and was 23" tall. Iman was a leaner meaner 9lb 5 oz and was 21" tall. They are in more modest percentiles, the 10th and 50th mostly, but our pediatrician swears it's more about the growth curve and both babies are following their respective curves. Here are some happier "shots" Anna took in NYC.

Babies take Manhatten

We proved to ourselves that we can indeed travel with twins. Monday afternoon I used the snap-n-go stroller as my pack mule, carrying not only the two car seats with our most precious cargo.... awwww cheese... we also used it to transport our luggage and the most essential baby gear shoved into our diaper bag. I took the long stroll to Forest Hills and the Babies B got their first ride on the T. We met up with Daddy and took the fast train to NYC. The babies were great on the train, which led them to be less great once we were settled in our room and decided to go for dinner. I had the bright idea to Bjorn and sling them so we would fit in a restaurant easier. These are great modes of baby transport, but not so good for sitting and eating dinner, both babies made their displeasure known and we made a quick getaway. This was fine with Amine since he hated his dinner anyway. The weather was pretty crummy the next day so my outings with the babies were a morning shopping trip to a baby superstore and a rainier afternoon at Old Navy... not exactly the store you go to NYC to visit, but we have a different life now, one that would have made it difficult for me to hop in a cab or take the subway down to SOHO where all the real shopping lives. The highlight of the visit was the babies meeting Anna, Gage and Micheal. Gage experienced first hand, much to his displeasure, the power in Bibi's pants. I will never forget the look on his face or the fact that he almost launched my son across the room when he shat in his lap. Micheal was much more of a natural with the babies and of course Anna immediately made them dance and took some great shots of us. Our train back to Boston was less quiet and involved a few walks to the cafe car. When we got back to Boston we enjoyed our quiet and better smelling city by having lunch outside and taking a stroll to the Charles River.

Proof

Here is proof of Iman's roll over feat. I tend to think it's more about being little and wiggly since she doesn't seem to try too hard or even know what she's doing when it happens, but I am counting it nonetheless. We first witnessed the feat many weeks ago, but chalked it up to crazy coincidence or being on our bed. However, I have since captured her feat on video, so judge for yourselves. She is upset because I kept flipping her back onto her tummy in disbelief of her mad skills.

Testing 1..2...3....

In my spare time I thought I would jump on to the blog bandwagon. That's code for you may only see one or two postings here in the next five years, but I will do my best. The Babies B are 8 weeks old today and I haven't even been able to update my journal since they were born. In these fast flying eight weeks I have begun to feel like a mom and mostly feel that I am testing my powers of multi-tasking and sleep deprivation. I was never great at multi-tasking, but I don't really have an option now. The babies are great so far, adding new vocabulary to my repertoire... words like craptastic, poopilicious and rocket poo. Everyone asks if we are on a schedule yet and I can't say that we are, we are more of an on demand family....feeding, burping and changing hopefully happening right before major meltdowns and explosions. When people ask how I am doing I use words like surviving or "I am hanging in there". The babies are starting to have awake and cool with it time. Bibi is checking out his surroundings constantly and is unwittingly "playing" when he bats his arms into the toys hanging from his jungle safari play mat. Iman is less happy to be awake if she is not either snuggling with someone or eating. So it seems Bibi is more chill and Iman is more about having someone at her beckoned call.
